Foals

I have been fortunate to own a few horses over the years that were what I considered to be worthy breeding material. To qualify as such, the horse must possess several qualities that are likely to make it's offspring contributors to the betterment of the breed. To name a few, the horse must have a good pedigree, with lots of black type up close. They must have good conformation with no abnormalities. I like to see a good performance record as well. An example of this is my mare Honour, her mother produced six foals, all of whom were multiple winners. Honour herself won 13 races by the time she was five years old.  Honour produced three foals before she passed away unexpectedly on Good Friday, 2003.  All three of her foals are multiple winners.  Her first foal Jess retired completely sound in November of 2004 with earnings of $130,000 following her 11 1/4 length allowance victory at Pimlico in which she received a beyer number of 93.  That is almost unheard of for a mare.

Jess is in foal again, this time to Slew City Slew with a due date of February 23, 2008.
