This is the homepage of McDowell Racing Stables, a Thoroughbred racehorse training facility run by Laurie McDowell, located at Pimlico race track in Baltimore, Maryland. I would like to welcome you to my site and introduce you to what I like to think of as horse racing with a heart. Horse racing is evolving with the addition of slot machines in many states.  At the moment Maryland does not have slots and is struggling to keep up on an uneven playing field.  As a result, there are more horses than ever that need rescued.  Money is tight everywhere and oftentimes the horses are suffering as a result.  I have helped re home seven horses in the past month while working on placing several more. 

As you browse through following pages you will see that it is possible to treat horses with love and respect and still win races. The About Us section will show you how the barn is run and the philosophy that lies behind it. Feel free to ask questions by posting on the message board and follow along as we strive for the winners circle.
